15. ODD BLOOD
Yeasayer
Label: Secretly Canadian
Key track: O.N.E.
Shifts in Brooklyn, New York saw MGMT shying away from their commercial leanings on the band's second LP, while neighbours Yeasayer went pop - albeit a weird definition of pop. The trio's second album bounces between the borough's ethnic art-folk and downtown dancefloor grooves. Totally addictive and strange - O.N.E.'s psych-cartoon, congo fever baffles the senses - somehow Odd Blood managed to sound like 1980 and 2080 simultaneously.
