Among 2010's biggest upsets was Gorillaz' damp squib Glastonbury performance. But if they didn't leave as conquering heroes, it wasn't the fault of Plastic Beach. Despite its dizzying cast, it found Damon Albarn flying solo, no longer reliant on borrowed hip hop credibility and freed up to follow a surprisingly coherent line in melancholy mutant electro. With 60-plus tracks left over, Albarn has even raised the prospect of an out-takes volume.
