Going Through Hell - The Streets
Dry Your Eyes, it's true, this will be the last album Mike Skinner is to release under The Streets alias. After nearly a decade, the lad laureate of the noughties is hanging up his microphone. The fifth and final instalment, Computers And Blues is due out in early February and looks to be an innovative return to form.
Already raising eyebrows is Skinner's use of twitter in conjunction with the upcoming record. After taking a gap year in which nothing was posted for 365 days, his account is now as active as ever, with poetic videos and interactive responses to fans questions. Even song advice given in 140 character form has been replied to through the medium in a truly inventive creative process. The latest video posted is a behind the scenes look at day one of rehearsals for the new tour.
Below is the preceding single Going Through Hell which features Rob Harvey of The Music on the chorus. Recent Q Award winner Clare Maguire also makes a guest appearance on the new album. A long list of tour dates have been confirmed and may well provide one of the last chances left to see such an important UK artist on stage. Be sure to get your tickets while you still can.
