The New To Q Sessions in association with Live Nation aim to showcase the best emerging acts, as chosen by Q.
From January 24 - 28 we host the New To Q Sessions 2011, and Qthemusic.com are giving away sought after tickets to each of these shows! Find out more about the acts below or to enter just head to the bottom. New To Q Sessions get off to a strong start on Monday 24 January with LA's Funeral Party injecting their youthful guitar attack into the arena. Support comes from Kid Adrift, a Muse inspired electronic experiment which blends smooth vocals with brash beats, and Liz Lawrence, who places herself firmly at the other end of the spectrum with a great collection of acoustic material and intelligent lyrics.
The winner of the Next Big Thing category at The Q Awards 2010 with Russian Standard Vodka, Clare Maguire will show everyone what the fuss is about on the Tuesday. Liam Bailey will warm up the crowds with soulful sunshine melodies mixing between his English and Jamaican roots, and rising star CocknBullKid also performs.
Wednesday 26 January sees an already hugely successful group headline. Noah And The Whale are returning with a new album in March and ticket-holders can expect a great gig previewing some of the new record before its release, along with their past hits including 5 Years Time. South Devon's Ben Howard will support them, his influences include the likes of Jeff Buckley and John Martyn so this is not to be missed. Alice Gold will be playing tracks from her forthcoming album Seven Rainbows, she describes herself as having a love of Janis Joplin, but a crush on Alicia Keys.
Thursday January 27, is a Mancunian affair, with two of the city's top bands making the trip south. Dutch Uncles are first on. They write tightly structured songs akin to fellow city residents Everything Everything and have already courted critical acclaim with previous single Fragrant. Egyptian Hip Hop then headline. The four-piece are already being talked about as a major one to watch next year, so come down and check them out for yourself.
Closing the New To Q Sessions Friday gig will be Alabama born sisters The Pierces, who have been singing together since childhood. Raised on some of the popular music classics Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Al Green, and Joni Mitchell, it was clear where their future's lay. The duo were home schooled by their hippie parents and the curriculum leaned heavily towards the arts. After two album's in the deep south of the charts, a new 2011 record is set to prove that the third time is lucky, being produced in part by Coldplay's Guy Berryman. Murray James and David's Lyre will support them.
