Cash For Questions - Dolly Parton

Comments

"Well, hello there." One of country music's most charismatic, flamboyent and enduring personalities, not to mention the proprietor of a theme park based on her image and likeness (Dollywood), Dolly Parton is set to undergo an inquisition from the Q readership.

Throughout her long career she's collaborated with many country greats, performing celebrated romantic duets aswell as forging a strong solo career on the back of hits like 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You and Jolene.

Ahead of her forthcoming world tour, she'll be answering your questions and a selection of the best of those will end up in a future issue of Q Magazine.

  • Alongside "Do bears shit in the woods?" & "Is the pope Catholic?" another sarcastic response to an obvious 'yes' is "Does Dolly Patron sleep on her back?" but does she?

  • You turned down a request from Elvis Presley to record I Will Always Love You as The King wanted publishing royalties. Did you ever speak with Elvis about his interest in the song or was the deal completely handled by his domineering manager Colonel Tom Parker?

    .
How did you keep from tearing up while singing your part of the song " I am strong " that you shared with The Grascals.
    .
Thank you from your fan [ me] .. .. for your support of the song and St. Judes Hospital.

Should you decide to ask my question [ how did you keep from tearing up while singing your part on the song " I am strong " ]
    .
    And .. .. . . .. .. should I be so fortunate to win the money [ I think it said something like $25.00 or whatever ] .. .. ..
    .
Please send that check to St. Judes Hospital .. .. I could always use $ 25.00 but will not take a winning check .. .. when it could benefit St. Judes Hospital .. .. and I will have a roof over my head tomorrow and I will have food on my table .. .. I will still have 4 wonderful , healthy children and [5] grandchildren .. .. it such a small amount but, if it means that one child can receive some little thing or treatment I would be forever in your debt to donate it for me [ you could possibly match it ? ]

  • Dolly,

You’ve created an amazing range of memorable characters and colourful storylines for your songs over the years - an orchard-dwelling banjo-picker; a big, hairy loner; a jilted woman who loses her baby; a sweet-toothed kid with a puppy dog; an orphan who falls into prostitution… where do I stop?

So I’d like to know if you’ve ever considered giving a nod to your numerous gay fans by writing a story-based song about a same sex couple?

Too controversial? Well, that depends on how it’s done. I think, with your ingenious way with words and some non-gender-specific character names it could be done brilliantly – and the disapproving types would never even know!

    What do you think?
