The pun-loving Glaswegians return this year with new album EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\, and on it is first single Euphoria, Take My Hand. Singer and ex-footballer James Allan welcomes you to the song with theatrical vocals, painfully bawling lyrics such as "I'm not holding your hand any more, why can't you understand?"
A calming and melodious riff then enters the melancholic fray as Allen continues to breathlessly lament. Deep, rumbling drums accompany the song, giving it a beating heart and a certain resonance. The band seem to have abandoned their former Jesus And Mary Chain-esque sound and as a result, Euphoria, Take My Hand - like the album as a whole - is a more polished and refined affair (although just as Scottish as its predecessor). We think it's working very well.
