Saves The Day - Let It All Go (acoustic) UK EXCLUSIVE!

Comments

Taken from Daybreak, their forthcoming seventh studio album, this acoustic version of Let It All Go - a UK exclusive on Qthemusic.com - shows just how the band - now with a different line-up, bar frontman Chris Conley, who is the only original remaining member - have grown and developed in their 14 years together. At the same time, however, they've retained still retain the same sense of desperate insistence. Conley was just 18 when the band's debut album was released, and, although he's now 31, there's a youthful urgency that remains in his vocals that belied his age.

That's not to say this is a man in teenager's clothing - as this stripped back performance demonstrates, there's a simple maturity to the arrangement which allows the song to straddle both the past and the present, the befores and afters, the teenage angst and the adult hindsight, rolling them into one bundle of lifelong emotion. Conley himself has referred to this album as a rebirth, especially after the line-up change, and it's true that this song song sounds both fresh and familiar. Old fans will find much to reminisce about with this song, while new fans - perhaps those who had dismissed Saves The Day for what they started life as (a mid-1990s indie/emo* band full of teenage angst) may well be pleasantly surprised.

* we're not going to go into the semantics of what emo is or isn't, but suffice to say that in 1998, it was a different kettle of fish to what people think it is now. And likewise, before that, in the late 80s/early 90s, it had taken an entirely different form).
