Taking it back (way back, back into time) on today's Track of the Day is Scoundrels. Drawing heavy influences from the early rock n roll styles of the 50s, Scoundrels booked a 30 minute session in London's Riflemaker Analog Studios and got the chance to record directly onto a 10" vinyl.
Mary Joe is a traditionally upbeat song, chiming with the era it's inspired by. The drums are merely subtle snare rolls and ghost notes with a bass drum beating throughout, and the guitars give you an odd feeling of nostalgia, even if you were but a glint in the milkman's eye in that era. In a day and age when Auto-Tune is all the rage, this is a refreshing blast from the past - in the present.
