U2 set to break biggest selling tour record

Comments

U2's gargantuan 360 World Tour was indeed massive - so much so that the legendary four-piece are on the brink of breaking the record for the highest-grossing tour of all
time. The title, currently held by veterans the Rolling Stones for their A Bigger Bang tour of 05-07, would become U2's if they surpass $558 million. It is projected that upon completing the North American leg of the tour, the total will be up to $700 million (!).

Although the band's last album, No Line On The Horizon, underperformed at retail (but then, don't most things nowadays?), their unique revolving stage set-up - hence the name of the tour - allowed there to be some 15-20% extra capacity at the arenas they played, thus helping them on their way to break this record. We were going to insert a line here about them finally finding what they've been looking for, but decided not to.
