George Michael announced details of a new album and tour at a press conference yesterday, where he vowed to put his recent private life troubles behind him. The 80s pop legend will work on new material in gaps on the 47-date tour through Europe with a symphony orchestra, beginning in August. The new album, he promises, will be an exciting dance collaboration with other gay artists.
"I feel re-energized after my recent troubles," he said. "I am not interested in repeating my former successes. At this stage in my life there are, I feel, two areas I can explore further - one is dance music and the other is my voice."
In the last few years, the singer has been attracting headlines for his wrongdoings rather than his music - including a prison spell for driving into a shop-front in Hampstead whilst intoxicated.
This is probably our favourite use of a George Michael song in a film, ever.
Tickets for the October tour go on sale at 9am on Monday and are available from Aloud.com
