The new single by Tennessee rockers Mona is teeming with the same raucousness, fist-pumping fun and emotive clatter that propelled Kings Of Leon to mainstream mainstays. Listen To Your Love crams into three minutes all the hallmarks of a veritable festival sing-along smash: crunching guitars, wailing vocals and an up-tempo beat packing plenty of punch.
The band have endured a bit of a battering from critics who claim their danceable indie treads a little too closely to the terrain explored by Kings Of Leon in recent years. It is fair to say there are similarities: singer Nick Brown shares the southern American drawl of his KOL counterpart and both situate their aggrieved emotional states within a mighty macho rock racket. But what the group lack in originality they make up for with their unflinching power - the bass guitar is dirtied with distortion, the drums pummeling and the vocals unabashedly anthemic.
Mona unleash their debut album this week and are marking the release with live performances across the summer with Morrissey and - funnily enough - Kings Of Leon. The band's hearty rock is sure to win over thousands of fans in the coming months, so get on board now.

I LOVE THESE! Saw them earlier this year twice and they were amazing. Best band of the year by far.
