Steve Mason and Dennis Bovell to release album

Comments

Former Beta Band man Steve Mason has joined forces with reggae musician and producer Dennis Bovell. The pair have announced the release of an album on 25 July. Entitled Ghosts Outside, the record is a radical 'dub' interpretation of Mason's debut solo album, Boys Outside, which was released last year.

Commenting on the collaboration, Mason said: "Making the album was great fun. Dennis is an energizing person to be around. He's the man Linton Kwesi Johnson calls when he needs cheering up! So going in every day to the studio was fantastic, a great laugh and a reggae history lesson all rolled into one. The fact that his is working on this album and also really rates the original Boys Outside is a great honour for me, considering not only Dennis's talent, but the talent of the people he has worked with in his life so far."

The tracklisting of the album is as follows:

1. Lost and Dub
2. Dub Position
3. Letter Dub
4. Yesterday Dub
5. Dub Come Down
6. Dub Outside
7. Dub On My Heel
8. Dub I Just a Man
9. Understand My Dub
10. Dub Her In
