Q's Quick Qatch-Up with...Afghan Raiders

Comments

Formed in Las Vegas, but now based in San Francisco, this trio deal with epic, electronic soundscapes that sound dirty, real and unwashed. Having won Filter Magazine's 2009 Remix Contest for their reworking of The Black Lips featuring GZA track The Drop I Hold their profile has steadily risen. Vincent 'Beans' Campillo was kind enough to tackle the QQQ questions.

What's been the highlight of your week so far?
Yesterday I scored 2 Aqua Teen Hunger Force DVDs for $10. Pretty stoked about that.

Where will you be and what will you be doing this time tomorrow?
I'll be in an airplane over the Atlantic then getting ready for our show at KOKO on Friday night. [He answered our questions on Wednesday, you see]

What's your current favourite song or album?
Dance Yrself Clean by LCD Soundsystem.

How many shots of tequila do you think you've had in your life?
I think under 20. My first time with tequila was 10 shots and I've tried to steer clear of it ever since.

Compare your last show with your first ever gig.
Our first show was 2 of us with lots of confetti and our last show was 3 of us poolside. So I guess the party is growing.

What do you think is your worst song?
We haven't written it yet, we're saving it for the full length.

Describe your life so far in 5 words.
Lots of pizza and beer.

Afghan Raiders play Koko tonight, LED Saturday and Rockness on Sunday. Click here for a free track download.
