Welsh rock sextet The Blackout recently released their third album, Hope. It could well be the album that propels the band further into the mainstream, as the catchy hooks and driving melody new single Never By Your Side ably demonstrate. Singer Sean Smith took the time to answer the by now hopefully familiar QQQ questions .
What's been the highlight of your week so far?
I found £20 in one of my jackets! It's been a slow week.
Where will you and what will you be doing this time tomorrow?
Sitting on a train leaving Exeter to go home to Merthyr Tydfil.
What's your current favourite song or album?
I've been listening to Oasis' The Masterplan b-sides album, and also letlive.'s Fake History a lot lately.
How many shots of tequila do you think you've had in your life?
I only started drinking last March after a ten year stint of sobriety, but I managed to have a few tequilas in Australia with Gareth from Pendulum, because he tried to convince me that if you just drink tequila on a night out you won't get a hangover. That's the only time I've drank it, so let's say 9. I was pretty drunk.
Compare your last show with your first ever gig.
Our first ever gig was in a rock club in our hometown to quite a few people, the majority of which were there to see us fail. The latest show was in Holland at a festival called Jera On Air. It was fun, but it's always weird playing a festival because the majority of the people don't know who you are and are confused by what's going on.
What do you think is your worst song?
We did early rough - really rough - demos that made it onto the internet, one of which is a song called Wild Nights & Fist Fights.
Describe your life so far in 5 words.
Unbelievable for a Valleys boy.
