"It's a view from the slippery mountain they call love," declares Baxter Dury of his new single - and today's anointed track - Claire. And it's fair to say he might have poured an entire soap opera's worth of material into this song.
Released this week, this song from Dury's forthcoming third album Happy Soup is a ice lolly of a song with it's bittersweet view if love, life and modern living.
Proving Dury's growing maturity as a classic British songwriter, Claire manages to sound both like a wet weekend in suburbia and something truly magical, and is a great taster of what's to come on the album which is out on 15 August.
