Fyfe Dangerfield's Twitter 'Qsong' - key moments so far

Comments

Fyfe Dangerfield and Q are currently (5 July) in the middle of writing a song with help from Twitter.

The Guillemots frontman began the track yesterday (4 July) at 2pm with just the title Super Injunction to go on. Since then fans, musicians, celebrities and more have sent in suggestions via Twitter using the #Qsong hastag, or by emailing in samples, sounds and artwork to Qsong2011@gmail.com.

The aim is to finish the song within 24 hours, and release the song with all proceeds going to War Child, and possibly score a world record too for putting together a song with the most contributors in the shortest amount of time.

Dangerfield is currently hard at work in the studio, ahead of today's 2pm deadline, and here are the key moments so far:

  • 9am: Dangerfield and Q announce the record-breaking attempt online
  • 11am: The ideas begin to come in thick and fast on Twitter suing #QSong. Even Holly Johnson from Frankie Goes To Hollywood gets involved, throwing some ideas into the pot.
  • 2pm: And we're off! Fyfe hits the studio start work on Super Injunction.
  • 4pm: David Arnold and Emmy The Great lend their support to the project via Twitter.
  • 6pm: Comedian and Q Awards host Al Murray helps Fyfe out with some bass drum parts recorded using a filing cabinet.
  • 8pm: Dangerfield hits a slight snag - he decides the track desperately needs a bassoon part, and the search for a bassoon virtuoso begins... several reply via Twitter.
  • 11pm: The Guillemots' frontman is getting ambitious asking if "anyone have access to a big group of children who are prepared to shout a few things in the morning and be recorded?" Rumours of Pink Floyd quaking could not be confirmed.
  • 9am (5 July): Having hit a snag about recording percussion, a drum troupe come to the rescue sending in live drum samples. The singer promises the track is beginning to come together...
  • 10am: Q Editor-In-Chief Paul Rees makes a brief visit to the studio, confirming "at least one children's choir" is on the track.

Follow all the action, and suggest your ideas via Q's Twitter account by using #Qsong in all your posts.
