It's hard to argue The Strokes didn't change the face of indie with the release of Is This It ten years ago this month, and if you want proof top blog Stereogum have recruited a host of bands who followed in its wake to reinterpret the album track by track (all of which are available for download).
Among the standouts is Real Estate take on Barely Legal who folllowing their first self-titled release three years ago are often labelled as one of the most blogged music acts on the planets.
Hailing from New Jersey, bassist Alex Bleeker, drummer Etienne Duguay, guitarist Matther Mondanile and lead singer/guitarist Martin Courtney named their band after one of their 'day' jobs.
"I actually have a real estate license and work in a real estate office," admits Courtney, "just doing office work."
With their follow up album, Days, released not until October, this track should keep you satisfied for a few more months.
