Snow Patrol have worked with R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe on their new album, the band have told Q.
The singer visited the band at their Los Angeles studio and offered the group advice on fine-tuning their songs.
"Michael just made a few suggestions here and there," frontman Gary Lightbody told Q. "On a track called New York there was a line, Your face has never left me. He said that sounds like you've got a girl's head in your bag. So we changed that."
He added: "It was amazing because the first song I ever played live was R.E.M.'s Find The River at a school concert."
The band will release their first single from the sessions Called Out In The Dark on September 4.
Snow Patrol's new album is due out in the autumn. For more the full studio report, get the out current issue, Q301 which is now.
