"We want to make pop music, but we want to be a little deeper and darker than what you hear in the charts," suggests Bob Matthews of south London newcomers Alpines.
Joined by vocalist Catherine Pockson, the pair have taken their cues from electro pop's high end - can hear traces from the likes of Cocteau Twins, Eurythmics and La Roux (they've even earnt a Skream for their track in the mode of In For The Kill) - alongside their noirish inclinations.
Following up their Night Drive EP, the duo wil be releasing Cocoon as a single (out August 8), and just as Matthews promises, it should bring plenty of darkness to the dancefloor.
Here more music at their smatly named website which someone cleverly based in Spain, Alpin.es - geddit?

It takes you in. Breath taking isn't enough, by the time Alpines are done you feel completely different. Mind altering music. Love it.
