Benjamin Francis Leftwich has told Q that he has opted for a stripped down approach for his gigs because that's the way he writes his songs.
The York singer-songwriter was speaking on the Q Show on Q Radio which you can tune into from 2pm (BST) today (4 September).
"I've played a couple of shows when I've got a band behind me, I like being able to feed off the vibe of a gig and you can't really do that if you've got a drummer behind you tapping out the rhythm," explains Leftwich. "I write my songs sitting down by myself in my room, or wherever I am, on acoustic guitar and I figure that's the way I should play them live."
Tune in from 2pm as the singer-songwriter talks with Q's Paul Stokes about his debut album Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, his up-coming UK tour and reviews this week's singles including offerings from Fleet Foxes, Death In Vegas, Example and Brett Anderson, plus we play selected highlights from this month's Q50.
