Details might have been seeping out since last week, but this afternoon (18 October), The Stone Roses finally announced they will indeed be reuniting next year.
The band confirmed their return at a press conference held at London's Soho Hotel.
The Stone Roses will play two 75,000 capacity shows in Manchester's Heaton Park on 29 and 30 June next year.
Tickets will go on sale at 9.30am (BST) on Friday (21 October). See our sister site Aloud.com for the latest ticket news.
All four founding members - drummer Alan 'Reni' Wren, frontman Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire and bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield - will be reuniting for the shows.
They have added that they will be playing new songs at those dates, with Brown indicating that he hopes that will lead to a new album and a world tour.
The band have also said today that they want to release a free live track for fans.
Speaking at the press conference, Brown explained that the band had wanted to announce their return in the summer but decided to practice first to make sure they were ready for their return. He added that the first song the group played together was first album track, Shoot You Down, declaring "It was like getting your own private lapdance!"

The Stone Roses initially split in October 1996, although they did play several dates - including a headline slot at the Reading Festival that year - after Squire left the band on 1 April 1996. Reni had already quit the group in March 1995, shortly after the completion of the band's second album The Second Coming.
