Noel Gallagher: 'Manchester derby win beats my Number 1 album' - Q Awards video

Comments

Noel Gallagher has admitted Manchester City's derby win over Manchester United on Sunday (23 October) eclipsed his first solo album going to Number 1 the same day.

Speaking in a video interview you can watch above, the former Oasis man celebrated a hat-trick as he also picked up the Q Icon award at yesterday's (24 October) Q Awards.

"What was better being Number 1 or Manchester City beating Manchester United 6-1? Oh beating Manchester United 6-1! I've had a few Number 1 records but you only do that lot 6-1 once in a lifetime so I'll take that one!" declared Gallagher.

"You know that scene in Back To The Future when Michael J Fox slides across the floor with his guitar? I didn't have a guitar but when the sixth goal went in I slide across the hotel room floor in front of the television. I may have swore!"

The Chief also spoke about The Stone Roses' reunion, explaining he's sorted for the guestlist.

"I'm a very good friend of those lot so I don't need tickets!" he declared. "Only God's representatives on earth get the gig there [Heaton Park] that's the Pope, Oasis and The Stone Roses, we're all channelling the world of god!"
