Q304 - 25 Anniversary Covers - #9 Arcade Fire

Comments

Our current issue, Q304, is an extra-special one: it's our 25th birthday.

To mark the occasion the magazine boasts 25 different covers featuring 25 different acts who are currently shaping music.

Each day, we¹ll be printing an exclusive extract from one of the 25 cover interviews. Today, it's the turn of Arcade Fire, whose singer Win Butler answers the big question on everyone's lips - if he agrees with the Pet Shop Boys's assertion that the moustache has no place in music.

"It depends on your bone structure," suggests Win Butler. "Some people were born to have a moustache, some people weren't. Some of us can't grow a moustache. In my case, I don't think it's possible."

In the same interview, the frontman reveals the first ever album he had was by Def Leppard.

"I wanted Hysteria because it has Pour Some Sugar On Me on it. We were driving with my grandpa and I saw this Def Leppard cassette at a truck stop and said, Oh, that must be it. So I got my mom to buy it for me and it totally wasn't worth it," he admits. "It was some earlier album I can't remember the name of. It was just horrible."

Come back tomorrow for another exclusive cover story extract from Q304.
