Q Awards 2011: The Gigs - Snow Patrol close series of shows with a bang

Comments

Snow Patrol closed this year's series of Q Awards: The Gigs last night (27 October) at the HMV Forum in London.

Gary Lightbody and co performed to a packed venue, playing songs from their five current studio albums plustracks from their forthcoming album, Fallen Empires.

The band opened their set with a incendiary rendition of Open Your Eyes before launching into hits like Run, Take Back the City and of course Chasing Cars, which was awarded the Q Classic Song award at the Q Awards on Monday.

"I made the mistake of describing the new album as able to unleash your inner dance monkey in an issue of Q and I've never lived it down," Lightbody joked with the crowd, spotting a home-made banner with the phrase written on it. "Fuck knows what I was talking about, but it's great to see you all unleashing your inner dance monkeys out there! Seriously, it's a pleasure to be here."

The five piece played a 90 minute long set, delighting fans and encouraging crowd sing-a-longs every step of the way, before bowing to rapturous applause after an encore of Chocolate.
