Q and its official charity partner YOUYOU mentoring have teamed up to give provide a rare, behind the scenes work experience opportunity at this year's Q Awards.
Eighteen year-old Rebbecca Scott, an aspiring events organiser from London, is working ith the Q Awards, Events Director Marguerite Peck on this year's ceremony, which takes place next Monday (24 October).
The internship will provide the opportunity to experience first hand the practical event management skills required to put on the 2011 event, plus will see Scott shadow Peck at the ceremony itself.
"It's been a joy mentoring Rebecca and giving her a taste of working on a major music award event - she has a bright future ahead of her," explained the Q Awards organiser of the internship so far.
YOUYOU is Q's official charity, and in 2011 have doubled the number of individuals they mentor and offer work experience. The mentoring scheme has helped Q to discover the hidden talents of many young music journalists.
The organisation also runs other career-building schemes for young people (17-21) who are have fallen between the gap of employment, education or training, by teaming up with a series of mentors, developing their skills, confidence and giving them a head start at the early stage of their careers.
