WU LYF set to do a S Club 7 after Q Awards win - video

Comments

WU LYF are celebrating their Q Awards win yesterday (24 October) more than most, as the Manchester band claim they're going to make some money out of picking up Best New Act presented by Orange Amplification.

The often secretive group spoke in what could well be their first ever video interview which you can watch above now.

"We put a bet on it, so we're going to be rolling in it, we're rolling in the deep," explained singer Ellery Roberts of their win, before jokingly adding that thanks to some riotous scenes on tour, they could be about to follow S Club 7's career path.

"People in Newcastle [got] pregnant just by being there [at the band's recent gig]. The LYF got pregnant so we're going to have a little WU baby," he explained. "We're setting up WU LYF juniors."

  • Who?????? Best newcomer, is this some sort of joke? I listen to 6music for about 10 hours a day and I've never heard of them. I work as a crew member for a very busy band and I've not seen their name at one of the 35+ festivals I've been to this summer.

  • Sorry but this makes a mockery of the award. This band have barely made a scratch on the music scene this year, their album PEAKED at number 98 in the UK charts, and as if that's not enough they are bum clenchingly cringe-worthy in the interview extract above. There are many impressive newcomers in the last year who have really impacted the music landscape in this country and people are loving their music... this band is not one of them.

  • So best newcomer should be judged by how many festivals you play, how many times a radio station plays your songs and how high up the charts you get?

    Grow up.

They are, without a doubt, the most exciting band out of that god awful set of nominees, and quite possibly the most exciting new band in Britain.
