Miles Kane has denied that he'll be joining Arctic Monkeys. Speculation arose after Alex Turner revealed earlier this month that he'd let his Last Shadow Puppets bandmate join the monkeys "in a second" if he asked. But Kane has no plans to team up with the Sheffield band: "I think we're alright, you know? We'll just continue what we're doing - as we are is fine," he explained.

The future doesn't look too bright for Sonic Youth. Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, the couple who founded the band, split after 27 years of marriage last month triggering suggestions the band's days were numbered and now guitarist Lee Ranaldo has cast further doubt on their future. "It remains to be seen at this point what happens," he said. "I think they are certainly the last shows for a while and I guess I'd just leave it at that."

Kasabian brought their arena tour at the Brighton Centre last night, showing off their giant 'orange segment' production as they mixed tracks from latest album Velociraptor! with the likes of LSF, Fire, Fast Fuse and more. Miles Kane opened the show, which now heads around the country and will see the band playing London's O2 Arena on New Year's Eve.
