Salford-born singer Ren Harvieu is gearing up to release her debut single Through The Night on 16 January next year, but you can hear it right now as it's our track of the day.
"Through The Night was around from the very first writing session I did for this album," the singer tells Q. "It originated as a weird, dark, little ukelele song and over a couple of years transformed into this big noire-ish production. It has a slightly sinister sense of external longing."
The reason its taken Harvieu longer than expected to get ready to release her debut is down to a spine injury following a serious accident in July that almost left her paralysed.
However having made a quicker than expected recovery she's supporting Elbow tonight (22 November) as part of Mencap's Little Noise Sessions in London, and plays her own show at capital's Water Rats on Thursday (24) - the debut album will follow her single next year.

I was born in Salford in 1938. This girl has a fantastic voice and deserves to go all the way in her career to the very top. Bless you Ren.

I quite like this. Not my usual kind of music but there's something very Radiohead about it.
