To celebrate the recent release of their live DVD Get Along, Tegan & Sara have given Q an exclusivefrom the film for today's track of the day.
Above we have the sisters performing Alligator from their sixth studio album Sainthood, which the duo admit is a tough one to get right live.
"Alligator is one of the most confusing arrangements of music I've ever written,"
Sara Quin tells Q. "It made complete sense when I first wrote it, but it quickly became a puzzling head-scratcher in the studio. To add to the confusion, I insisted on alternate versions when playing the song acoustically for radio, etc.
"I love them all, but this new version from the DVD seems to me to be the clearest and strongest of them all. The title 'alligator tears' came from my incorrect memory of the phrase 'crocodile tears'. I thought it sounded better, and even after learning the correct phrase, decided to leave it as is."
