Today it's young bluesman Jamie N Commons who's whisky-soaked growl belies his tenders years and is already earning him a loyal following, including Elvis Costello.
"I did a cover of 15 Petals from Costello's When I Was Cruel album," he explains. "It sounded like Hank Williams playing surf-rock but he heard it and told me it was one of his favourite covers."
