Red Kite - Montreal from Red Kite on Vimeo.
North London upstarts Red Kite are today's track of the day with the exclusive video to their single Montreal, out Monday (5 December).
Taking their name from a near-extinct bird (as good a reason as any), the five-piece have drawn comparisons to the likes of Arcade Fire for their high-energy brand of melodic rock.
"Montreal was a benchmark for the album in terms of the ambition for the project." Says lead guitarist and singer Dan Fisher. "Everything up to that point had been quite lo-fi, written on an acoustic guitar and built up from there. This was the first time we experimented with using two drumkits and incorporating strings and brass."
"It's a song about regret and wishing you could have been there for someone. There's a narrative to the track, a story-element that's present in a lot of the songs on the album."
