The National perform new songs, The Clash and Primal Scream members team up, Lady Gaga wants to work with Woody Allen and more - Daily Hot List

Recordings of two brand new songs from The National have emerged online. The tracks, an acoustic ballad called I Need My Girl and the piano-led Rylan, are rumoured to be included on their follow-up to High Violet, due out next year. Stream the new songs by following the link below.

Paul Simonon and members of Primal Scream joined Mick Jones onstage at London's Scala last night. Jones and co performed Clash hits like Guns Of Brixton as well as covering Primal Scream's Rocks Off at the show in support of the Justice For Hillsborough campaign. Hard Fi singer Richard Archer also made a guest appearance.

Lady Gaga has revealed her dream is to appear in a Woody Allen film. The Born This Way singer shared her acting ambitions on American TV chat-show The Ellen DeGeneres show: "When I talk about acting, I'm always surprised no-one ever asks me to audition... they'll just say 'I want her to do this movie' and I'm just like 'Why? You haven't seen me act before.'"

Ringo Starr marked the 31st anniversary of John Lennon's death yesterday by calling for an overhaul of gun laws. The former Beatle, whose bandmate Lennon was shot dead on 8 December 1980, told a press conference at Gibson Guitar Studio that he believes stricter measures should be taken to stop people carrying firearms. "If you are caught with a gun it should be a higher sentence. Guns are just becoming more and more," he explained. "They're like the death of choice. So we hope that young people will stop."
