Noel Gallagher is threating to retire... that is if he has a good year. "Looking forward to this 2012 business," he wrote in his first Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere missive of 2012. "If this year is half as good as last year then I might actually retire. What would be the point in carrying on?? And in any case, ain't the world supposed to end this year?? Fuck the Mayans, I say!!!" Gallagher fans it is your duty to stop buying his records.

Bruce Springsteen played a surprise gig on Saturday night at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park as part of the venue's Light Of Day concerts. The Boss joined Grushecky And The Houserockers for a series of classics including Darkness Of The Edge Of Town, Atlantic City, Johnny 99 and Because The Night. Playing well into the early hours, the set ended with a sing-a-long version of Thunder Road.
