Q Now: The Sessions - Day 1
London XOYO,
Monday, 23 January 2012

Last night in 100 words...
The first night of Q Now: The Sessions at east London's XOYO traveled an almost full spectrum of musical genres, via three new acts. Blackpool singer-songwriter Rae Morris proved her vocal chops during a string of piano-led ballads that silenced the brimming crowd. Following her Clock Opera stressed why they've been on the verge of a breakthrough for some time now with intelligent pop somewhere between Hot Chip and Everything Everything. Meanwhile headliners Dry The River showed exactly why they're one of the Faces Of 2012 with a triumphant set of hardcore folk rock.

View from the crowd: "Dry The River have a repertoire songs that display subtly that you'd not expect from a "rock band" - particular impressive when they choose to "go unplugged" bringing quiet to a venue far more used to the loud sound of a fully amped band..." A full review will appear in a future issue of Q, plus stay tuned for a picture gallery featuring all the Q Now: The Sessions acts

Tonight it's Emeli Sande and Michael Kiwanuka. If you're going post your review at Facebook.com/QMagazine and we'll run the best with tomorrow's 100 word review.
