The 2012 Brit Awards took place at London's O2 Arena last night, here's a little round up of what went om...

Adele and Ed Sheeran were the big winners of the night, each picking up two awards. The Tottenham singer won British Female Solo Artist and British Album Of The Year while Sheeran scored British Breakthrough Act and British Male Solo Artist. Also among the winners were Coldplay (Best British Group), One Direction (Best British Single) and Lana Del Rey (International Breakthrough Act).

Adele flipped her middle finger at event organisers when James Cordon cut short her acceptance speech short after only 12 seconds. "She's the biggest star in the world. I don't understand what happened but I'm upset about it," Cordon told ITV2 shortly afterwards. Adele later clarified, in the video you can watch below, that the gesture was aimed at "the suits, not the fans".

Coldplay opened the show with a rendition of Charlie Brown. Rihanna, Florence + the Machine and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds were also among the performers on the night, with Chris Martin joining the former Oasis leader onstage to play piano on AKA... What A Life.

Blur collected the award for Outstanding Contribution To Music and performed a five song set to close the event. "The last time we were here was 17 years ago and what happened on that night had a very profound effect on our lives, so it's nice to come back and say thanks" said Damon Albarn during his acceptance speech.

Rihanna had on her rider for the event Oreo cookies, a "cupcake tower", a litre of vodka, crisps, some wine and tequila. That girl knows how to party.
