Andrew Harrison has been named as the new editor of Q today (9 February).
He takes over from Paul Rees who stepped down after 10 years in charge.
Announcing the changes, Q's Publishing Director Rimi Atwal thanked Rees for his "immense contribution" to the title and Bauer Media, before welcoming Harrison on board.
"I am delighted to announce Andrew Harrison has been appointed Editor of Q Magazine, Bauer Media's flagship music title," she explained.
"Andrew is an experienced consumer magazine editor who has worked on some of Britain's most influential music brands including Select and Mixmag. He was also Music Editor of men's magazine Details in New York and Editorial Director of Emap Performance during 2000-2002. More recently Andrew was part of the founding team at independent music title The Word."
Harrison takes up his new role with immediate effect.

Q seriously needs to find its direction again. The new re-design is awful, after a run of great covers you are resorting to collage covers again with great space-consuming lists at the detriment of features, and now you appoint an editor that I would hardly describe as "fresh". You used to be the best music magazine around. Not any more. There is such a wealth of NEW music talent around at the moment, and as usual, Q champions the old bastards that have been around the block 20 times already. Good on you for putting Lana, Florence, and Black Keys on the cover (well the latter on the subscriber cover anyway - what is that about), but please do not subject your readers to another run of collage covers and best of lists. It is lazy. Lazy and cheap. Speaking of cheap, the paper used in the May issue is one-step up from toilet paper. Get your act together Q - and maybe appointing someone who has their finger on the pulse of MODERN music would be a start. Also, your website is a mess - get it sorted.
