Arctic Monkeys say they're next album will be heavier than current LP Suck It And See. "We feel the strength of the last record is 'Don't Sit Down...', the other songs like that - Brick By Brick - the other side of it is fine, but I don't know how much more of that we can do," explained singer Alex Turner. I think we're going to go the direction of those heavier tunes. We did R U Mine?, and I think that's where it's going to be at for us for the next record."

Christopher Owens, singer of duo Girls, has er quit the band. "Dear all, this may come as a surprise to many and has been an issue of much thought for me. My decision was not easy to make I am leaving Girls. My reasons at this time are personal. I need to do this in order to progress," he wrote via Twitter. "I will continue to write & record music. More will be announced soon. I thank you all for everything." It's unclear if bandmate Chet "JR" White will continue without him.

A video of the incident where Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe allegedly pushed a fan off stage in Prague two years ago has appeared online. The fan died two weeks after the gig. An American journalist is trying to hijack a marketing stunt to send Pitbull to Alaska. The Boston Phoenix's David Thorpe spotted the Walmart comp would send the singer to the store which received the most Facebook likes by 16 July and is encouraging people to like the chain's shop on Kodiak, a secluded island in Alaska. With the store gaining over 35,000 likes already, Pitbull has indicated he will honour the deal, tweeting "I hear there's bear repellant at Kodiak, Alaska."
