Comments

The Summer Series At Somerset House in London is the festival for people who don't like mud or leaving cities and love nice, stately surroundings. Q is previewing all of this year's headliners with a series of interviews and today it's the turn of DJ Abrantee who presents Afrobeats featuring Olu Maintain, Atumpan, May7ven and Vibe Squad in the courtyard on 14 July. Head to Somersethouse.org.uk for more details including the latest ticket news.

Describe your 'sound' in three words:
"I would describe my sound as, Contemporary Authentic Afrobeats."

How will you be travelling to the gig?
"My menagerie will probably pick me up from home, so likely to be a car but if I'm lucky he might send a limo."

What can we expect from your set outside in the London air at Somerset House?
"You can expect a very exciting energised set playing only the best and biggest Afrobeats from the UK and Africa. People are coming to be entertained and to have a good time so my primary goal is to exceed all their expectations and give the a great time with my selection, mixes and my personal vibe. I love what I do and I want the crowd to feel it through the music. Nothing short of back to back hits and bangers to keep the audience on their feet throughout and thirsting for more."

Is there anything you've got planned for the Somerset House show you can tell us about?
"Mmm, guess you will just have to come to find out."

Can you tell us about the acts on the bill with you?
"All the acts on the bill are actually personal favorites of mine and happen to be some of the biggest and most hyped Afrobeats artist at the moment individually. They are all great stage performers so their participation will hugely compliment the entire event."

What one song of yours should we listen to get us in the mood for you show?
"Mm that's a hard one being a DJ, there so many great songs. I would say the song that always seems to move any crowd and put them in the mood is Dami Duro by a Nigerian artist Davido. Huge hit and certainly one to get you fired up."

The Royal Society used to be housed at Somerset House - what one scientific invention would transform your life and why?
"The one scientific invention that would certainly transform my life would be a time capsule."

Where's your favorite place in London?
"London is such a beautiful city and the one place I see daily and never get tired of is the West End. So many interesting characters from different walks of life."
