Comments

The Summer Series At Somerset House in London is the festival for people who don't like mud or leaving cities and love nice, stately surroundings. Q is previewing all of this year's headliners with a series of interviews and today it's the turn of M83's Anthony Gonzalez who plays in the courtyard on 16 July with Susanne Sundfor. Describe your 'sound' in three words:
"Cinematic, nostalgic and dreamy."

How will you be travelling to the gig?
"I expect that I'll be coming on a London bus."

What can we expect from your set outside in the London air at Somerset House?
"I've not yet been to Somerset House but I've heard it's the most amazing venue so I want to do the best I can ensuring its my best performance yet. Every time I perform I'm constantly trying to improve on my last performance - so this Somerset House performance will be extra special.

Is there anything you've got planned for the Somerset House show you can tell us about?
"I've heard Somerset House has a really magical, special atmosphere, so we'll be improving our light show so we can make the atmosphere as special as possible."

Can you tell us about the acts on the bill with you?
"I haven't actually had a chance to see anyone perform yet on the line-up."

What one song of yours should we listen to get us in the mood for your show and why?
"Really, listening to anyone of my songs will get us in the mood. I hope that each and every one of my songs will match the atmosphere we create on the night." [In that case, here's the recent Midnight City meme with Bill Clinton playing sax - embed ed]

The Royal Society used to be housed at Somerset House - what one scientific invention would transform your life and why?
"This is a tricky one. I don't have any idea - sorry, I'm stumped!"

Where's your favourite place in London?
"I don't actually know London that well, so hopefully I'll get some time after my gig to check it out and see more of the city."
