Interpol frontman Paul Banks has announced he will release a second solo album, Banks, on 22 October. Featuring a cover image by Helena Christensen, the album is ten songs long and includes recent EP release Summertime Is Coming. The opening song, The Base, in available as a free download now.

A gunman who was shot dead after opening fire at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on Sunday, is alleged to be Wade Michael Page, a member of Baltimore punk band End Apathy, who are reportedly a "white power" group. Following the attack, in which he killed six people, the band's record label, Label 56, has issued a statement distancing themselves from Page. "All images and products related to End Apathy have been removed from our site. We do not wish to profit from this tragedy financially or with publicity," they explained in a statement. "In closing please do not take what Wade did as honourable or respectable and please do not think we are all like that."

Elton John has reignited his feud with Madonna. "Her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger cunt," he told Australian journalist Molly Meldrum, before adding "she looks like a fucking fairground stripper." Watch the interview below.
