Madonna has released a "manifesto" for her MDNA tour explaining why she has used fake guns and swastika imagery (above) during her shows. "My show is a journey. The journey of a soul from darkness to light. It is part cinematic musical theatre. Part spectacle and sometimes intimate, performance art," she wrote. "It's true there is a lot of violence in the beginning of the show and sometimes the use of fake guns - but they are used as metaphors. I do not condone violence or the use of guns. Rather they are symbols of wanting to appear strong and wanting to find a way to stop feelings that I find hurtful or damaging." You can read the open letter in full via the link below.

Two members of Pussy Riot have fled Russia to avoid prosecution. Police were searching for members of the group after three of its singers were convicted of hooliganism for staging an anti-government protest in a Russian cathedral in March. "In regard to the pursuit, two of our members have successfully fled the country! They are recruiting foreign feminists to prepare new actions!," a Twitter account called Pussy Riot Group claimed. The three convicted singers are expected to appeal their sentences this week.

It seems Will.I.Am will go where Blur nearly went but not quite. The singer's new song Reach For The Stars will be debuted on the surface of Mars and beamed back to Earth via NASA's Curiosity rover which is on the planet's surface. Blur were in line to have a piece of music played on the surface of the red planet but the probe it was on, Beagle 2, crashed before the track could be played in 2003.

It's claimed that MF Doom sent a stand in to DJ for him at a party in London at the weekend. The hip-hop man who usually appears in a silver mask, is alleged to have sent someone in his stead to the Livin' Proof event. The promoters, who in retrospect say they should have cancelled the show when Doom asked for more money on the morning of the gig observed: "As many of the people in the venue noticed, there is a very strong possibility the person that was finally sent down was not DOOM himself."
