Russian Punk band Pussy Riot were found guilty of "Hooliganism" by a court on Friday after staging a protest against in a Moscow cathedral in March (above). Maria Alyokhina, 24, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30, are now facing two years in prison, after performing a obscenity-heavy song attacking the Russian Orthodox Church's endorsement of President Putin as part of a flash mob style protest.

Former world chess champion, Gary Kasparov, was arrested outside Pussy Riot's trial on Friday. The Grand Master insists he was just attending court and was not protesting, but the leading opponent of Putin was dragged off by police.

Madonna has led the international commendation of the Pussy Riot verdict. "Even if one disagrees with the location or how they chose to express themselves, the sentence is too harsh and in fact is inhumane," she wrote. "I call on all those who love freedom to condemn this unjust punishment."

Meanwhile Madonna has her own legal woes in Russia, as she is being sued following her gig in St Petersburg. While homosexuality is not illegal in the country, promoting it to minors is and a lawsuit is claiming that the singer did just that by encouraging concert goers to show their solidarity for gay rights during the show.

Rihanna has spoke about her "eternal love" for Chris Brown to Oprah Winfrey. She says she is "very close friends" with the singer despite his post Grammy assault on her in 2009, adding: "We built a trust again and that's it. We love each other and we probably always will. And that's not anything that we're going to try to change. It's not something you can shut off if you've ever been in love."
