Coldplay starred in the Paralympics closing ceremony last night, which brought to a close the London 2012 games. Not only did the band perform a set in the Olympic Stadium, but their music featured throughout the closing party. Chris Martin and co's performance saw them joined by Jay-Z and Rihanna, before organisers handed other to the next hosts, Rio in Brazil.

Paul McCartney joined Damon Albarn onstage during the final Africa Express show of their UK tour by train. Collaborating with the Blur man, Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, Super Furry Animals Gruff Rhys and musicians from across Africa, the band performed songs by Wings during the show at Granary Square in London.

After R.E.M. sent Fox News a letter telling them to stop playing Losing My Religion during reports, the former band got a bit of a snotty reply from the network: "FOX News Channel's use of an R.E.M. song during Thursday's edition of Fox & Friends was in full accordance with its license agreements with all appropriate parties. The xx are set to perform with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra next week. The group join the likes of Richard Hawley and Ren Harvieu for the gigs at Spa Bridlington.
