Missy Elliott has finally returned to music, releasing two tracks featuring long term collaborator Timbaland. Triple Threat and 9th Innings are available via iTunes, but can be streamed now. According to reports, 9th Innings is about the state of the music industry, with Timbaland quoted as saying: "The music game is in a bad state, so we're in the ninth inning like World War II and we have to come in and try to salvage what's left of it."

The music line-up for this year's BFI London Film Festival has been announced. Films for the "Sonic" section include Good Vibrations about the Northern Irish music scene and the influential record shop of the same name, The Secret Disco Revolution and Spike Island, a fictional account of The Stone Roses' 1990 gig. Sigur Ros and 50 years of The Rolling Stones on film will also be celebrated at the festival which takes place between 10 and 21 October.

George Michael has return to live action, kicking off UK dates in Birmingham. The show, his first since suffering from pneumonia, saw the singer take a pop at X-Factor declaring from the stage: "You could have stayed at home and watched the X Factor tonight. I may be 70-years-old but I can still do it - That might let people on to the fact that I actually watch the X Factor. I only watch it because my boyfriend likes it."
