Playlist - Big Black Delta's "Songs for stargazing" feat Scott Walker, Pulp, Salem, Timberlake & more

Comments

With a vow to release new material every few months, and an album to follow-up 2011's BBDLP1 some point this year, Big Black Delta - aka Jonathan Bates, who is also in lo-fi band Mellowdrone - is clearly a busy chap.
However he still makes time to star at the stars, and here's his soundtrack for such gazing. "About 15 minutes from my place there's a national forest where they shot a lot of those scenes from ET and me and my friend who owns a race car go up there sometimes," he explains. "You can see the stars because there's no pollution. This is one of the mixes I made for those drives."

Belong - October Language
"It's a polite electronic warm blanket of a song."

Salem - Frost
"The 808s and the out of tune synths just kind of have this nostalgia that reminds me of ET itself...the Spielberg movie."

Scott Walker - Boy Child
"I think Scott Walker is synonymous with not being from this planet."

Telephone Teleavive - Immolate Yourself
"It's like a blanket of a song, especially when its cold at night up there."

Blind Faith - Cant Find My Way Home
"One of the saddest songs I've ever heard. I feel like stargazing and sad songs go well together."

Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around
"FUCK YOU, that's why!"

Pulp - This is Hardcore
"That baritone voice just goes perfectly with a good smoke and stargazing."

Wiskey Biscuit - Stoner Girl
"It's the most honest song about a being in love with a woman that I've ever heard."

  • If Scott Walker is in fact not an extraterrestrial, he is at least hearing sounds from other dimensions.
