President Obama says he and Jay-Z are the same: their wives are more popular, Brian Wilson keen to make new Beach Boys LP, Slash sorry for telling world about naked mum & David Bowie... Daily Hot List

Beyonce and Jay-Z' fundraiser for Barack Obama this week at the rapper's 40/40 Club reportedly raised $4m for the President's re-election campaign. "I can't tell you how proud we are to host tonight's event with President Obama," Beyonce told the $40,000 a-head crowd. "We believe in his vision." However Obama revealed not everyone was happy with the pair's event. "Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they aren't here," the President said of his family, before adding that he felt a kinship with Jay-Z. "We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's okay," he joked.

Brian Wilson is hopeful The Beach Boys will record new music next year. Despite the band now planning to tour without him following their 50th anniversary dates, the veterans hope to get into a studio together. "I wouldn't mind getting together with Mike [Love] and the guys and making an exciting rock'n'roll album," Wilson explained. "I'm sure by early next year we'll be ready to rock."

The group who placed domestic violence warnings on copies of Chris Brown's latest album in a London HMV have spoken out. Going via their Twitter name Abuse Sticks Out, they issues the following statement: "We live in a society that splits an abusive man's actions from his public persona. With one in four women experiencing domestic violence and, on average, two women being killed in the UK by abuse each week we want to make these abusers stick out. Society ignores their abuse. We won't. We are going to sticker every album and film made by abusers that we can." The group have since targeted records by John Lennon, though the success of the protest is questionable, with HMV indicated that sales of Brown's album increased after it was stickered.

Slash admits he was embarrassed when the story about finding his mum - a costume designer - naked with David Bowie in the 70s broke earlier this year. "That was a very casual conversation with somebody on the phone in Australia that I had no idea was going to get blown up. It became this big headline and it was very awkward," he said. "I'm embarrassed because I'm sure David didn't appreciate it... And my mum, rest in peace, probably wouldn't have dug it either." He added no one should have been shocked by the story: "All it was: they dated for awhile, which is common knowledge."
