Jarvis Cocker: 'Pulp still feel like pop music's gate-crashers' (Q Awards video)

Comments

Jarvis Cocker has told Q he and Pulp still feel like musical gate-crashers.

The singer was speaking after winning the Q Inspiration Award at yesterday's (22 October) Q Awards.

"Been here and seeing Dionne Warwick and Bobby Womack get awards, you say to yourself They're proper singers, they're real popstars. Even though we've been around for a long time we still feel a little bit like gate-crashers in away," admitted Jarvis. " Maybe you never get over that, maybe everyone feels like that."

He added because of that he'd been worried Pulp's reunion last year might not have worked.

"When you decide to do something like that there's always the possibility it might be awful because things are right for a time and then it just doesn't work," he said. "We were lucky. We got together, rehearsed and it sounded ok so we took the risk of playing it to other people. The fact people have come along and liked it is quite amazing really."

Watch the full interview, including their cruise ship gig later this year and the future for Pulp.
