Tom Odell has been named as the winner of the 2013 Brits Critics Choice Award. The singer songwriter beat Laura Mvula and AlunaGeorge to the new talent prize which was voted for by an academy of music reviewers and "taste makers". He will receive his prize at the ceremony which will be held on 20 February at the 02 Arena in London.

Kraftwerk have won a 12 year-long court case over a sample, after a German judge ruled in their favour. The case hinged on the use of music from their song Metall Auf Metall in Nur Mir, performed by Sabrina Setlur.
