Vampire Weekend have announced they have finished work on their third album. The as yet untitled record will be released on 6 May according to a simple message on the band's site. "It really does feel like the third chapter in a book," frontman Ezra Koenig told Q. "We created some characters on the first record, some of which are real people, some of which are ourselves, so it's not hard to keep following them and see what their concerns are now and how their lives have changed."

"He burns a heavt shadow. Aphex opened up another world that didn't involve my electric fucking guitar and I was just so jealous of that crew. They were on their own plaent. I hated all the music that was around Radiohead at the time, it was completely fucking meaningless."
