Aussie garage rockers Jet went Q's way, albeit briefly

Gig Review

Fresh from collaborating with Iggy Pop, Aussie garage rockers Jet motored on down to Sony Ericsson Presents Q The Music Club Live at the Hard Rock Cafe on August 10

Short But Sweet Set From Aussies

Jet played a curtailed set at a packed Q The Music Club on Monday, as singer Nic Cester left the stage after two songs.

Joking he had been struck down by swine flu, Cester made a swift exit after performing their recent single She's A Genius, leaving the remainder of the band to continue for another three songs with drummer Chris Cester on lead vocal duties.

The band made a solid effort despite the frontman's premature departure, including performing an impressive version of Holiday before leaving the stage, repeatedly apologising to the crowd for their short set.

Fan Review

Our lucky competition winner won the opportunity to review the gig and interview the band. See below to see what they thought:

Ripping it up or Keeling Over?

Jet managed to do both last night – literally. Vowing to never give them another chance after a soft, self indulgent, over the top Shine On Brixton show, Rip it Up had me remembering why I enjoyed their first album so much. The new single She's a Genius was forgettable except for front man, Nic Cester, keeling over, jokingly saying he had swine flu and leaving the stage.

Credit to the rest of the lads for carrying on, and Beat on Repeat gave me a sliver of optimism that the new album could be a funkier incarnation of their iconic 'Get Born' sound - alas with only 2 songs the jury is still very much still out.
